Date for Nnamdi Kanu’s trial set by Supreme Court
The Federal Government and Nnamdi Kanu, the imprisoned leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), filed appeals, and the Supreme Court set December 15 for the court to rule on them.
Following final comments from counsel for Kanu, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), and solicitors for the Fed Govt, Tijani Gazali (SAN), and the court on Thursday, the date was decided.
The Federal Government is asking the court to overturn a previous ruling by the Court of Appeal, which dismissed Kanu’s treasonable felony charge and granted his release on the basis that he was forcibly returned to the nation after jumping bail.
Kanu urges the court to uphold the Court of’s decision and to disregard the following ruling by the that halted the judgment’s execution.
