Darren Bent, a former Premier League player, has weighed in on a potential red card scenario in the Manchester United vs. Leicester City matchup.

Late in the first half, Marcel Sabitzer stamped on Wout Faes’ kneecap, but the referee did not deem the contact to be illegal. The Dutch international wasn’t given even a yellow card following a quick check by the video assistant referee.

Bent, however, thinks the World Cup star shouldn’t have been permitted to stay on the field.

“I believed that to be a red card. Things might have gone far worse. The ball wasn’t even close to it, he claimed on Premier League Productions.

“Seeing that, the ball was nowhere near there,” he said, “it was on the kneecap. I find it surprising that he is still playing.
