Representatives are targeting NNPCL boss Kyari’s position, threatening to demand his sack over controversies surrounding the Dangote Refinery.

“If the reported attempt to harm Dangote Refinery doesn’t cease, the House of Representatives intends to demand Mele Kyari’s removal as Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).”

On Saturday in Abuja, Philip Agbese, the deputy spokesperson for the House, made known this information to journalists.

It was observed by Agbese that the legislators had already demanded for the dismissal of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority’s leadership, known as NMDPRA.

He noted that the Dangote Refinery is being targeted for destruction by both NNPCL and NMDPRA.

According to him, a significant number of Nigerians have abandoned the planned protest against hardship. Nonetheless, he emphasized that the dismissal of Kyari is essential for ensuring the efficient operation of the country as per their wishes.

He stated that the ongoing disagreement between Dangote Refinery and NMDPRA would be looked into by the House.

According to Agbese, the investigation aligns with the House’s pledge to safeguard all essential economic infrastructure and national assets such as the Dangote Refinery.

According to him, there have been widespread demarketing campaigns aimed at discrediting the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. He expressed concern about their adverse effects and how they have caused panic throughout the country.

On record, the House requested that the President dismiss NMDPRA’s CEO.

If the attempt to destroy a national asset, namely the refinery project continues, Mele Kyari may face termination as per The House of Representatives.

Remember that the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Company in Lagos was previously visited by a delegation from the House, led by Tajudeen Abbas who is the Speaker of Representatives.

Abbas stated that the visit yielded significant insights which will inform legislative measures and decisions made by the House.

According to him, the House is focused on establishing a business-friendly atmosphere that promotes Nigeria as a desirable location for domestic and foreign investors.
