Dan Orbih, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national vice-chairman for the South-South region, has responded to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the controversy surrounding Edo PDP candidates for the 2023 elections.

All Legacy Group members as well as all party members in the state are urged by Orbih to remain calm.

He called the protracted conflict within the state’s political party “a patriotic war for internal democracy, fairness, inclusivity, equity, and a better state.” He declared that he had no regrets about standing his ground and demanding that “the interests of the majority of the party’s members and the ideals of the party’s constitution are honoured and enshrined through a fair and transparent democratic process.”

Asserting that “the benefits of your rightful struggle will manifest in due order,” Orbih congratulated every Legacy Group member for their “unwavering dedication to true democracy, justice, fairness, and the advancement of the party.”

He emphasised, “We cannot submit to despair or the whims of those who have abused the people’s confidence through their blatant authoritarian impulses.

The PDP chieftain assured the candidates endorsed by the Legacy Group of his ongoing support, saying, “A lot of water has passed under the bridge; God knows what transpired. You did a great job defending the party on behalf of our beloved leaders and the candidates we backed. Your unrelenting dedication to justice and genuine democracy motivates me. You won’t ever walk alone, I assure you. I’m here with you.
