Senator Dino Melaye accuses PDP leaders Damagum, Bature, and Anyanwu of undermining the party’s unity and interests, raising concerns about internal conflicts and party stability.

Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial hopeful for Kogi State in 2023 indicated that the party would no longer be a force within Nigeria’s political arena.

According to him, the party has undergone commercialization and privatization.

On Saturday, the former senator of Kogi West took to his X handle and accused Iliya Damagum (the acting PDP national chairman), Samuel Anyanwu (national secretary) and Umar Bature(national organising secretary) of being responsible for wrecking the party.

In his statement, he expressed that the PDP has come to a conclusive end due to the destruction caused by Damagum, Bature and Anyanwu. Further discussions will revolve around PDP’s commercialisation and privatisation as it now exists only in fairy tales.

After allegations were raised against Damagum and Anyanwu by PDP lawmakers in the House of Representatives, Melaye had an outburst.

Accusing the party leaders of conspiring to undermine the PDP, the lawmaker alleged that they were providing legal support for former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who had defected.

They claimed that the duo’s action was aimed at removing Sim Fubara, the governor of Rivers State from his position.

Ikenga Ugochinyere, the spokesperson and representative of Ideato Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has pointed out a series of events that he believes were orchestrated by Damagum and Anyanwu to undermine the PDP.

Damagum cautioned in his reply that he could not be coerced into stepping down from his post.

On Thursday, he responded during the launch of the PDP National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees in Abuja.

He believed that the calls for his resignation were actually boosting, rather than diminishing, his popularity.
