Veteran Nigerian artist John Odafe Asiemo, nicknamed Daddy Showkey, has disclosed that he has been receiving death threats as a result of his comments over the death of rapper Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, in a contentious manner.
In an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Daddy Showkey claimed that there was more to the rapper’s death and pointed singers at several influential figures in the music business and society.
Returning to Daddy Freeze’s Instagram live session on Monday night, Showkey claimed that since making his previous remark on Mohbad’s fate, he has been receiving threats from members of the government.
“Daddy Freeze, do you know after my last interview with you, I received a lot of death threats?” he asked. Do you know that after that interview, even officials in the administration threatened me?
“I suggested that they watch your interview; did I say anything improperly? And I’m telling the truth when I say what I’m saying. You cannot imagine what I went through. That night, I didn’t get any rest. They only threatened me.
“Daddy Freeze, I have no idea what you are going through with all of these things you are doing. Considering the threats they made against me, I came to ask, “What about you?”
