Customs Area Controller for Katsina is Mohammed Abubakar Umar

Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the acting controller general of customs, has appointed Comptroller Muhammed Umar Abubakar to the position of area controller for the Katsina Customs Command.

According to a statement released on Friday by the Customs Public Relations Officer, SC Tahir Balarabe, Umar took over the management of the Command on September 13, 2023, from Compt. MN Musa.

Umar, a native of Bauchi State, is claimed to bring a plethora of expertise to his new position, according to the statement.

He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and in 1989 he started working for the Customs Service as an Assistant Superintendent of Customs. He has participated in numerous training initiatives both domestically and abroad over the years, which has led to his current position as a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria.

Postings to numerous formations, units, and departments throughout his Customs Service career have highlighted his adaptability and expertise.

At the headquarters in Abuja, he held the position of Acting Comptroller Special Duties before being appointed as Customs Area Controller.

Additionally, he has held significant controller roles in the Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, and Kano/Jigawa. He most recently held the position of Comptroller Admin in Zone B Kaduna’s Zonal Headquarters.

Umar thanked the management group and the acting comptroller general for giving him the chance to lead the Katsina Area Command as controller as soon as he took office.

In his new position, he promised to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and work ethics. He also emphasised the value of professionalism and discipline among the officers and personnel of the Command in the performance of their tasks.
