After a cult confrontation in Sagamu, the state’s Sagamu Local Government Area, four people have died and seven others have been detained.

The offenders were apprehended following a raid that was directed by an assistant commissioner of police, according to the spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola.

“Upon receiving the information, the Area Commander swiftly mobilised more personnel to the scene in order to prevent the clash from escalating and to apprehend the cultists involved. As a result, seven suspected cultists were arrested, and further investigations resulted in the recovery of a firearm and three live cartridges,” the official said of the Sunday incident.

“The people who were arrested are Asaiye Omolaja, Azeez Nofiu, Mathew Adewale, and Bolaji Ogunkemaya. Bolaji Ogunkemaya was discovered in the same room as the four other victims, which is significant. Prior to the arrival of the police, one person, Wasiu, was able to flee.

“Bolaji Ogunkemaya supplied crucial information during the operation, indicating that their leader, known as Azubuike alias Better, had been detained by the Area Commander a fortnight prior. The police’s dedication to dismantling these criminal networks is further demonstrated by this information, the spokeswoman said.

Alamutu Abiodun, the commissioner of police for Ogun State, visited Sagamu soon after the incident to evaluate the situation and get a profile of the individuals detained.

He informed Ogun State’s cult members that their actions would no longer be tolerated during the visit. A zero-tolerance policy for needless killings was also established by him.

After the fight, the neighbourhood has returned to normal.
