Cult members murder vigilante in Rivers State

Gunmen fatally shot Mr. Uche Orukwo, a member of the Diobu Vigilante Group (DVG), at the Obidanso Waterfront in Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The tragic incident occurred on a Saturday night, causing fear and unrest in the vicinity, prompting the police to urge residents to remain calm.

Reports indicate that Orukwo was part of a security team that had ventured to the waterfront to confront cultists who had been causing havoc in the area.

Acting on intelligence, the security operatives conducted a raid at around 9 pm on that fateful Saturday, discovering suspected cult members preparing for an imminent attack on a rival group as part of an ongoing power struggle.

Upon the arrival of the security team, the cultists resorted to violence, opening fire on the operatives and fatally shooting Orukwo, the vigilant member.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe Koko, verified the tragic incident, assuring that investigations were underway to apprehend those responsible for the heinous crime.
