The Igbo faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC), operating under the banner of the Omalegwuoku Progressive Initiative (OPI)/Igbo Kwenu for Asiwaju-Shettima, has advised Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, to wait for his day to lead the nation.
The organisation felt that it was disrespectful for Obi to have called President Bola Tinubu out for failing to disclose his place of birth and educational background.
At a news conference on Wednesday in Abuja, the group’s worldwide president, Mrs. Ginika Tor, expressed disappointment in Obi for his behaviour.
She stated: “I had already posted my speech when I realised that my own brother, Peter Obi, whom I greatly respect and who is also the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, had appeared on ARISE TV and was urging our president, who is the most important man in this nation, to come out and explain his condition.

So by now, a man who served eight years as a governor, you don’t know his state, [and he] should disclose his educational history, is that correct?
You calling out our President, who received enormous support in being elected, confirmed, and validated as the leader of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to come and stand before you and claim that he is from this state, from this country, from this region, or from this locality, is an insult to Nigeria as a whole. Do we owe him that? The President now owes us the favour of taking us where we want to go.
“As a result, I am disappointed in my brother who got up to run for Igbos, a man I greatly respected. His turn might not come right away, but it might in the future. Everything he does from this point on will have an impact. Therefore, let’s exercise caution and ensure that no Igbo gets mislead by this press interview that our own brother gave to ARISE.
We are urging our brother Obi to calm down; if God wanted you to be there, He would have appointed you as President, she continued. No, he didn’t. This President is the subject of numerous distractions. Are the problems of the world not bothering you?
