The government of Cross River State has extended an invitation to Major General Everest Okoro, the Commander of the 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Calabar, to lend his enthusiasm and experience to the fight against the growing threat of kidnappings, cultism, and armed robbery in the state.
Peter Odey, the state’s deputy governor, took over on Friday when Okoro visited to inform him of his promotion to major general.

The deputy governor reaffirmed that security services needed to step up their efforts in response to the alarming and unprecedented new security threats in various areas of the state.
Odey reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering support for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Okoro was one of the 46 Nigerian Army Major Generals who had just received promotions.
“Your new status is clearly the direct result of professionalism rather than an accident of luck,” Odey replied, congratulating him on his promotion. You really do stick out like the unhideable goldfish in the proverbial ocean.
