P-PWAN has urged Atiku Abubakar to avoid criticizing President Tinubu, stating that such actions will not enhance his political stature. The remark comes amid ongoing political tensions in Nigeria.

The People Petition Writers Association of Nigeria (P-PWAN), a non-governmental organization, has advised Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, to moderate his ongoing criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s policies. They stated that such criticisms will not enhance his reputation as a former vice president.

In a statement released to media outlets, Prince Elias Odoemena, the President of P-PWAN, mentioned that Atiku is merely echoing sentiments previously expressed by average Nigerian citizens.

Prince Odoemena stated that experience is what remains with a person when all else fails, emphasizing the expectation for Atiku, as a former Vice President of Nigeria, to demonstrate wisdom by offering constructive suggestions to support the current administration. He criticized the release of empty press statements condemning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership without providing any solutions.

The People Petition Writers Association of Nigeria anticipates that Atiku Abubakar will present suggestions. If President Tinubu declines to implement them, we at P-PWAN can inform Nigerians that the President opted not to use Atiku’s beneficial proposals, which could advance the nation. This approach would be more constructive than merely criticizing the government without offering solutions from his side,” stated their announcement.

Prince Odoemena noted that those familiar with Nigeria’s political history are aware that President Tinubu was once Atiku’s superior when he departed from the People’s Democratic Party. Not only did Tinubu provide him refuge in his political party at the time, but he also supported him as the presidential candidate for his Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

He revealed that Atiku has direct access to President Tinubu and, if he genuinely cares about this country, he should communicate with him personally rather than through empty press releases.

“He said that each time Atiku returns from his home in Dubai, he opts to go to the press and finds joy in criticizing the current administration without having anything substantial to support his claims.”

He suggested that the former Vice President should offer solutions along with any criticism, as criticizing without proposing solutions would be seen as an attack on the government.
