Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a new milestone in the Saudi Pro League by scoring his 34th and 35th goals in Al Nassr’s final game of the season.
The 39-year-old Portuguese forward, known for his exceptional talent, expressed his nonchalant attitude towards records by tweeting, “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.” Ronaldo, who previously played for Real Madrid and Manchester United, showcased his skills by scoring in first-half stoppage time and later with a header in the 69th minute, contributing to Al Nassr’s 4-2 victory over Al Ittihad.
This surpasses the previous record of 34 goals in a single season held by Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah. Despite Ronaldo’s outstanding performance, Al Nassr finished second in the league, trailing 14 points behind champions Al Hilal.
Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr in December 2022 initiated a trend of renowned international players joining the Saudi league on lucrative contracts.
Additionally, Ronaldo has been selected for Portugal’s squad in the upcoming 2016 Euros, marking his 11th international tournament. With 206 caps, he holds the record for the most appearances in men’s international football and is the leading scorer with 128 goals.
