Ahmad Gumi’s ally Tukur Mamu is being tried for allegedly having ties to terrorists. Tukur Mamu lives in Kaduna.

Tukur Mamu is on trial for his alleged connections to terrorists who are said to have been responsible for the 2022 attack on a train headed for Kaduna. Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has granted the Federal Government’s request for protection for witnesses slated to testify against Tukur Mamu.

After the attorney for the Office of the Attorney-General for the Federation filed an ex-parte request, Justice Ekwo allowed the application.

The Federal Government requested four orders, one of which was to bar everyone from the hearing besides the parties and their legal counsel and accredited reporters.

Second, a directive from the court to adjourn the courtroom whenever an accusation witness is scheduled to appear.

Thirdly, anytime prosecution witnesses are testifying, a court order requiring them to wear masks or screens to conceal their physical identities is in effect.

Finally, a court order mandating the use of fictitious names by prosecution witnesses throughout this case’s proceedings and the deletion of those witnesses’ true names and addresses.

The motion was granted as requested by Justice Ekwo, and he then set the trial’s start date for July 21.
