A court sentences a self-proclaimed professor to jail after he was caught impersonating in a JAMB examination, exposing academic fraud.”
A Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, sentenced ‘Professor’ Jide Jisos to six months in prison for impersonating someone during the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Reports indicate that “Prof.” Jisos was detained by officials from the JAMB while overseeing the 2019 UTME at Brix Academy in Abuja.
In a statement released on Sunday by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Public Communication Advisor for JAMB, it was announced that Jisos received a jail sentence on October 24th, 2024.
Jisos introduced himself to JAMB examination officials as a representative of an NGO, asserting that he was there to supervise the examination. However, his ruse was exposed when the head of the monitoring team inquired about his actual purpose during their interaction in the examination hall.
Unable to verify his claims, Jisos was detained and turned over to security personnel for further investigation. During questioning, he admitted that he had no connection with any NGO and revealed that his presence in the examination hall was solely to help his daughter during the 2019 UTME exam.
According to the statement, Chief Magistrate Honourable Justice Folashade Oyekan convicted Jisos of impersonation and sentenced him to six months in prison. However, he was given the option of paying a N100,000 fine instead.
