Court sends four security guards to jail for stealing sand

A group of four security guards from Root Resort in Asokoro, Abuja, were each sentenced to nine months in prison by Judge Malam Aliyu Kagarko at a Grade 1 Area Court in Lugbe, Abuja, for stealing sharp sand.

The convicts were given the option of paying a N30,000 fine each in addition to their prison sentence by the judge after pleading guilty to the charges brought against them by the Prosecutor, Mr S.O. Osho.

The Prosecutor informed the court that the security guards had conspired to commit the theft by selling the sand to a truck driver without the owner’s permission on February 16, leading to their arrest and confession during the police investigation.
