Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu filed a preliminary objection against his deputy Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s lawsuit seeking to prevent his impeachment by the state’s House of Assembly, and an Abuja Federal High Court has set a date to hear it.
The hearing for the lawsuit was set for October 30 by Justice Emeka Nwite.
This came about after Aiyedatiwa’s attorney, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, objected to Kassim Gbadamosi’s argument on Akeredolu’s insistence on having his application heard.
For the hearing of Aiyedatiwa’s rebuttal affidavit, Nwite set the same date.
The judge set the hearing on the same date for both the application to challenge the court’s jurisdiction filed by the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly and the members’ motion to suspend the implementation of the court’s interim order.

The judge asked all parties to get their affairs in order before the next adjourned date and gave Adegboruwa the order to make sure that the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), the first and second defendants in the lawsuit, were served with all relevant documents, including the notice of hearing.
The Ondo State House of Assembly attempted to impeach Aiyedatiwa on September 26 but was stopped by Nwite due to charges of severe misbehaviour.
Shortly after Aiyedatiwa’s attorney, Kayode Adewusi, made the ex-parte motion, Nwite issued the interim injunction in a judgement.
