During a court proceeding, the Court Clerk read out allegations made by Bemgba Iortyom and Isaac Mffo against Prof. Nicholas Ada, High Chief Terngu Tsegba and former Benue Assembly Speaker Terseer Tsumba. The accused trio had supposedly funded thugs to sabotage Ward Congresses in Benue state causing disunity within the PDP party as well as embezzling funds designated for conducting elections in 2023.
Appearing on behalf of defendants Mffo and Iortyom, A.U. Gar requested bail be granted to his client through self-recognition. However, C.N. Agudu opposed the request vigorously stating that the seriousness of the accusations could not be disregarded easily.
Justice Mbanongon, the Presiding Judge, agreed that Cyber Crimes should not be taken lightly and directed for the accused to be detained at Màkurdi Correctional Center in Makurdi until further investigation on the issue.
A date for the case’s next mention was set by Justice Mbanongon to be October 15th, 2024.
