The Federal High Court in Kano, under the leadership of Justice Simon Amobeda, has granted a temporary order halting the activities of two commissions of inquiry established by Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State until the resolution of a lawsuit brought by former governor and current APC National Chairman, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje.
Justice Amobeda’s order prohibits the 4th and 5th Defendants/Respondents from carrying out their duties assigned by the Governor of Kano State in the designated Court Rooms for dispute resolution in Kano until the case is heard and decided.
The judge made this decision after examining the affidavit accompanying the ex parte application, which was sworn by Idris Abdullahi Dawakin Tofa, a Nigerian resident in Abuja.
The application contained Exhibits A-C and a Written Address by the Applicant’s Counsel, Abdulrrazaq A. Ahmed, Esq.
The court has given the respondents a five-day period from the receipt of the court order and documents to submit their response.
The Respondents named in the case include the National Judicial Council, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation And Fiscal Commission, Attorney-General of Kano State, Hon. Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu, and Hon. Justice Zuwaira Yusuf.
Justice Amobeda has scheduled the hearing for May 28, 2024.
