Court Orders Lady to Refund N150,000 to Boyfriend for Failing to Visit After Taking N3,000 Transport Fare
A court has ruled that a lady must pay her boyfriend N150,000 in damages after failing to show up for a visit despite collecting N3,000 for transport fare, setting a legal precedent in relationship disputes.
Court Orders Woman to Refund N150,000 for Not Visiting Boyfriend Despite Receiving Travel Expenses
A Magistrate Court in Ilesa, Osun State has ordered Rhoda Adu to pay N150,000 in damages for not visiting her boyfriend, Olapitan Sola, even though she received N3,000 for transportation.
According to court proceedings, Ms. Adu turned off her phone and failed to appear after Mr. Olapitan transferred money for travel expenses to her.
Feeling frustrated by her lack of response, Mr. Olapitan reported the issue to Ayeso Police Station, asserting that he felt deceived and emotionally distressed.
After her arrest, the court examined the evidence provided, which included the N3,000 transfer and WhatsApp conversations between them.
In his judgment, Magistrate Akogun Oludare instructed Ms. Adu to repay the N3,000 and also imposed a penalty of N100,000 for breaching their agreement. Additionally, she was ordered to compensate Mr. Olapitan with an extra N50,000 in special damages for the emotional distress she caused him.
The court stressed that the decision is intended to discourage others from engaging in similar behavior.
