A Federal High Court in Kano, under the leadership of Justice A. M Liman, has issued a restraining order against the executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ganduje Ward.
This order prevents them from suspending the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje, until a lawsuit filed by the former governor is heard and resolved.
Abdullahi Ganduje sought the court’s intervention through his legal representative, Barrister Hadiza Nasir Ahmed, to protect his rights to fair hearing and freedom of association.
The court invoked the Enforcement and Procedure Rules of 2009, specifically Section 46 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, in response to Ganduje’s plea.

Following the presentation of an ex parte application by Ganduje’s lawyer, Justice Liman granted the order.
The judge not only instructed all parties involved to maintain the status quo but also halted any actions related to the matter until a motion on notice is heard and determined.
The court’s directive explicitly prohibits the respondents, including Basiru Nuhu Isah, the Nigeria Police Force, the Commissioner of Police in Kano Command, the Inspector General of Police, and the Department of State Service, from implementing any decisions made during an emergency meeting of the APC Ganduje Ward executive members on April 20, 2024.
The judge set the date for the hearing of the case on May 9, 2024, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that all parties involved adhere to the legal process.
