Court Orders Final Forfeiture of $4.7M, ₦830M, and Properties Linked to Emefiele

A Nigerian court has ordered the final forfeiture of $4.7 million, ₦830 million, and multiple properties allegedly linked to former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele.
The Federal High Court in Lagos has mandated the permanent forfeiture of $4.7 million, ₦830 million, and several properties associated with Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
On Friday, Justice Yellim Bogoro issued a judgment mandating the final forfeiture of investments valued at $900,000 linked to Anita Joy Omoile, who is closely related to Emefiele.
The court additionally mandated the permanent forfeiture of investments valued at $4.4 million associated with Deep Blue Energy Services Ltd, along with another amount of N283 million found in Zenith Bank linked to Liman Investment Ltd area. Moreover, €20,000 and £1,999.50 traced to Exactquote Bureau De Change (BDC) were also ordered for forfeiture; all these companies have connections to Omoile.
At the request of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Justice Bogoro ordered that all the funds be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria, concluding that they were derived from illegal activities.
