Ibrahim Balarabe Abdulahi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was fired as Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly by the Court of Appeal located in Abuja.
In the ruling handed down on Tuesday, the court ruled that Sa’ad Ibrahim, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was duly elected to represent Umaisha/Ugya State Constituency in the state assembly election scheduled for March 18.
According to information obtained by The Nigerian Tribune, there was a dispute over speakership between Mr. Daniel Ogah Ogazi, who represents Kokona East, and Mr. Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, who represents Umaisha-Ugya among other constituencies in the state assembly.
According to additional information obtained by The Nigerian Tribune, the situation in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly resulted in the appearance of two speakers. Abdulahi Sule, the state governor, eventually addressed the issue, leaving Balarabe as speaker, but the appeal court dismissed him on Tuesday.
