Court in Osun orders hanging for two criminals

Two individuals, Wasiu Afolayan and Kola Adeyemi, have been sentenced to death by hanging by the Osun State High Court in Osogbo.

The court found them guilty of armed robbery and murder after they were arraigned on charges including conspiracy, attempted robbery, possession of firearms, and murder.

Despite pleading not guilty, the prosecution was able to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubt.

The crimes were committed in December 2018 at a specific location in Osogbo, where the convicts targeted residents for robbery.

Afolayan was apprehended at the scene, while Adeyemi was later arrested in Ikire.

The same gang was also responsible for a robbery in November 2018, during which a resident was fatally shot.

The offences committed by the convicts are in violation of various sections of the Robbery and Firearms Act as well as the Criminal Code of Osun State.

The convicts’ counsel pleaded for leniency from the court during sentencing.
