Court in Lagos remands a guy accused of defiling a sixteen-year-old girl
Emenike Agugwo, 34, was detained in a correctional facility by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl.
Agugwo, a resident of Agodo in Lagos’ Ikotun neighbourhood, is accused of defilement.
The suspect committed the crime at Okesanya Street, Papa-Ajao, Lagos Barcha, Lagos, on April 4 at around 7:30 p.m., according to the prosecutor, Insp. John Iberedem, who testified in court.

According to Iberedem, the victim was forced into having sex with the suspect against her will.
According to the prosecution, the crime violated Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
Agugwos’ petition was rejected by Chief Magistrate Mrs. E. Kubeinje, who instead directed that he be held in a penitentiary facility.
