The suspension of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been halted by a Federal High Court in Kano.
This ruling was made in response to an ex parte motion filed by Ganduje, in which he sought to enforce his fundamental right to fair hearing.
The respondents in this application include the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and nine others.
On April 16, the APC executives in Dawakin Ward, Tofa LGA of Kano State, suspended Ganduje on grounds of alleged corruption.
However, the State Working Committee (SWC) of the APC in Kano nullified the suspension and took disciplinary action against the ward executives. Despite this, a Kano High Court, presided by Justice Usman Na’Abba, upheld the suspension.

In the ex parte order delivered by the Federal High Court on Wednesday and made available to the press on Thursday, Justice A. M Liman ruled that the suspension should not be implemented until Ganduje’s case is heard and determined.
The order restrains all the respondents, their servants, agents, or privies from implementing or giving effect to the decision reached during the emergency meeting of the alleged executive members of APC Ganduje Ward.
The parties involved are also mandated to maintain the status quo before the emergency meeting and to stay action on this matter until the substantive application is heard and determined.
As a result of this ruling, the judge has scheduled April 30 as the date to hear Ganduje’s suit.
This decision by the Federal High Court provides a temporary relief for Ganduje, preventing the implementation of his suspension until the case is fully heard and determined.
