Along with six other people, a couple, Taiwo Olutufese and Salawa Oyenusi Ajalorun, was detained for the alleged murder of Oyindamola Adeyemi, a 26-year-old woman.

They were taken into custody on Wednesday for kidnapping, murdering, and removing the victim’s body parts.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, a police spokesman for Ogun State, named the other suspects as Lukman Oladele, Kayode Ibrahim, Alebiosu Adebayo, Bello Akeem, Fatai Rasheed, and Fatai Jimoh.

According to Oyeyemi, their arrest came as a result of a complaint made by one Omolara Ojo to the Obalende divisional headquarters in Ijebu-Ode.

On December 28, Ojo stated that her neighbour, Oyindamola Adeyemi, had left the house since the morning but had never come back and that her phone had been turned off.

The dismembered body of a woman was found on the side of the road the following day, and it was carried to a mortuary by the patrol team from Obalende division.

Fortunately, the mortuary is only a short walk from the deceased’s home, and one of the staff members there phoned the deceased’s relatives to come see the body that the police had brought in after learning about the missing individual, according to Oyeyemi.

He said that the victim’s friend Ojo was able to identify the body, even though the head had already been cut off, by looking at the victim’s bra and underwear.

After spotting the body, the DPO of the Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami, organised his top detectives to launch a technological and intelligence-based inquiry that, according to him, led them to herbalist Taiwo Ajalorun, from whom they were able to retrieve the deceased’s Itel phone.

When the herbalist’s house was searched as part of a search warrant, a container full of human blood, which turned out to be the blood of the person who had died, was found inside.

The man’s arrest led to the arrest of his friend Oladele, at whose house the body’s legs were discovered.

Oyeyemi says, “They both admitted what they did, which led to the arrest of other suspects who were buying different parts of the dead body.”

When questioned, Taiwo Olutufese Ajalorun and Lukman Oladele allegedly confessed that they brought the dead to Taiwo’s house since he was her boyfriend. However, as soon as the victim entered, both Olutufese and Oladele pinned her down and strangled her.

“After killing her, they severed her skull, legs, and two hands, which they then sold to their waiting purchasers for use in ceremonies meant to generate income.”

They claim that the legs were sold for N30,000, the heart for N50,000 to Akeem Bello, and the head for N30,000, but the buyer of the head is still at large. Oyeyemi revealed.

The suspects admitted to killing the third victim in this manner, according to Oyeyemi.

Lanre Bankole, the police commissioner of Ogun State, has ordered that the suspects be sent to the homicide department of the state’s CIID for a covert investigation and a fair trial.
