Excitement builds in Paris as the countdown to the Paralympic Games begins, with athletes and fans eagerly awaiting the start of this global celebration of resilience and sporting excellence.

After the conclusion of the Summer 2024 Olympics, attention in France has turned towards Wednesday’s commencement of Paralympics.

Paris, the capital of France, is getting ready to receive both viewers and around 4,400 para athletes taking part in 23 different disciplines.

Tony Estanguet, the president of Paris 2024 indicated that their goal is to not only sustain the fervor created by Olympics but also focus on eradicating discrimination against people with disabilities.

He said, “We aim to discover ways in which we can humbly make a difference in altering the perception of disability within our reach.”

Since 11 August when the Games came to a close, Place de la Concorde – an esteemed square situated in the heart of the city, has been bustling with construction work.

Next Wednesday, the Paralympics opening ceremony will be held outside of a stadium for the first time and this event will take place at its venue.

According to Estanguet, preparing it on schedule has been a legitimate difficulty.

The Place de la Concorde was initially designated as multiple sports venues for the Olympic Games, but it had to be converted into a single stadium within two weeks. This posed quite a challenge!

The majority of Olympic venues will continue to be in use for the Paralympics.

Para equestrian events will take place at the Palace of Versailles, wheelchair fencing will be welcomed at the Grand Palais, and blind football competitions are scheduled to happen beneath the Eiffel Tower.

Despite the quieter streets, security throughout the city remains tight with only a few days left.

The Games will see the deployment of approximately 25,000 law enforcement personnel and armed police officers patrolling significant locations. The interior minister has made this announcement.

From August 28th to September 8th, the Paralympics are scheduled to occur.
