COSEYL Condemns IPOB Sit-at-Home Order on Biafra Day, Urges WAEC Exams to Proceed

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has expressed its strong disapproval of the Indigenous People of Biafra’s (IPOB) plan to enforce a sit-at-home in the Southeast on Thursday.

IPOB, a secessionist group, stated that the sit-at-home would be observed in honor of those who lost their lives during the Civil War. Despite the ongoing West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examination, IPOB insisted on restricting movement in the region on Thursday. COSEYL, through its President General, Goodluck Ibem, issued a statement on Wednesday condemning this action as barbaric.

COSEYL emphasized the importance of allowing over 300,000 WAEC students from the South East zone to participate in the mathematics subject of the ongoing examination.

They argued that disrupting the exams would be insensitive and wicked, especially towards the less privileged students who received assistance to register for the exams.

COSEYL firmly stated that any order causing suffering and pain to their people would be self-destructive, and urged that the South East WAEC students should not be disturbed from writing their exams, as it is crucial for their future.
