Corruption Index shows Nigeria’s improved ranking – TI
In the latest Corruption Perception Index (CPI) released by Transparency International (TI), Nigeria has shown improvement by moving up five places to rank 145 out of 180 countries assessed.
Additionally, the country’s score has increased by one point, reaching a total of 25 out of 100. The CPI is widely recognized as a global measure of corruption, evaluating the perceived level of corruption within each country’s public sector.
Nigeria’s score falls below the sub-Saharan African average of 33 points. It is important to note that the index does not provide specific instances of corruption but rather reflects the perception of corruption in Nigeria.
The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Center (CISLAC) emphasized that this year’s CPI release does not assess Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies, which are acknowledged for their commendable efforts in combating corruption within the country.
