Community tension in Ondo as alleged cultist murders student for N1,000
An inhabitant of the university community fatally stabbed a student at Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko, Aaua, on Thursday evening, sending fear across Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
A quarrel over N1,000 between the student and the suspect, who is presently on the run, is said to have led to the student, identified only as Akintola, being stabbed.
According to Obasanjonews24, the event that happened off-campus led to unrest in the neighbourhood.
After the event, someone set fire to a building that belonged to the fleeing native’s kin.
When reached, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the state’s police public relations officer, verified the event.
According to her, the hospital where the student was sent for treatment confirmed his death.
She said that “an indigenous person had a problem with a student, and one thing led to another, and he stabbed the student, which led to the student’s death.”
