Residents of a hamlet in Sapele have expressed their outrage at the recent uptick in local insecurity, criticising the fact that armed thieves are now breaking into homes at night, robbing people of their goods and hurting victims.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, lately, burglars broke into the home of an Akara trader known only as Mama Samu while she was fast sleeping with her kids and took the sum of twenty-two thousand naira (N22,000).

Apparently, the incident happened on Friday, August 4 at around three in the morning.

On Sunday, August 6, there were reports of yet another incident in the area, this time in Sapele’s Mopol Zone, Tropical area.

According to reports, the burglars entered Mama Angel’s Ijaw home through the window while her family slept and took her plasma television and many mobile phones.

Even though the police and vigilantes kept night watches and patrolled day and night during this time, reports indicate that additional burglaries occurred in numerous residences.

“Sapele don turn another thing,” a local named Samu told our correspondent in Ajogodo. Boys who break into people’s homes to steal are the town’s vigilantes. The person who we will catch for us here, go hear me.
