The plot of land under dispute between Orolu and Irepodun local government has been taken by the state government, according to Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State.
The obviously incensed governor continued by saying that he had secured Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s assistance in order to send military forces to uphold law and order in both towns.
Adeleke announced this at the inaugural Ipade Imole, a public accountability platform, which was hosted on Thursday in Osogbo.
I’m not feeling well today. Investors would flee because of these conflicts.
“As a government, we have taken possession of the disputed land tract. The Osun State Government has taken possession of that land, and I’ve instructed the security personnel to deal with anyone who disobeys my instructions.
In this regard, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, has also given me his guarantee.
In order to support the efforts of the Nigerian Police, he has committed to send soldiers to the affected communities.
“I’m asking everyone who wants to cause trouble to exercise caution right now. It will not function at all if it is sabotaged.
“These conflicts aren’t assisting anyone; instead, they are driving business to other states.
It is unfortunate that lives are lost every day because of something that is God’s property, not man’s.
The governor ordered the monarchs, chiefs, and local authorities to summon their people to order.
“People won’t stop complaining when the government intervenes with force.
“The punishment for both communities’ failure to allow for a negotiated settlement to the issue on the ground will be a military deployment.
