Kore hamlet in Jigawa State’s Garki Local Government Area is at danger due to gully erosion.
A resident named Malam Musa told OBASANJO NEWS24 that the town has been in danger of being devastated by landslides brought on by erosion for more than 40 years.
“The gully is widening during the rainy season and has claimed several farmlands in the community,” he alleged.
As you can see, if immediate action is not taken to retake it, we risk losing our homes and farmlands.
Musa pleaded with all levels of government to act quickly to save the residents from losing their homes.
Senator Babangida Hussaini, the chairman of the Senate Committee on FERMA, claimed earlier, when examining the region, that the government had already put in place mechanisms to address the issue.
According to him, the contractor mobilised to the site after the contract was awarded.
