A new government surveillance team is in action to combat medical quackery, enhancing the integrity of healthcare services. Find out more.
The Federal Government has introduced an innovative program aimed at improving the supervision of medical rehabilitation professionals in the nation.
This initiative was deemed necessary due to the challenges faced by the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board (MRTB), which has a limited number of staff members and financial resources to effectively oversee the entire country.
In order to tackle this issue and bolster health security for the citizens of Nigeria, the government has enlisted the help of 200 volunteers from various regions to act as Surveillance Officers.
These volunteers have undergone a thorough selection process, training, and readiness to maintain professional standards and promptly report any unethical behavior to the Board.
During the announcement of the operation manuals for the Surveillance Officers, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Tunji Alausa, highlighted the significance of this milestone in combating healthcare malpractice and improving healthcare governance in the country.
Alausa stressed the crucial role of the Surveillance Officers in combating quackery and enhancing healthcare services, stating that their responsibilities are vital in ensuring that every Nigerian receives quality and comprehensive healthcare services, as directed by President Bola Tinubu.
