Following a violent altercation between the Nigerian labour Congress (NLC) enforcement squad and a group of carriers, four labour union leaders suffered serious injuries.
Members of a privately held transport company that operates out of a vehicle park on Yakubu Gowon Way, just across from NTA Jos, are accused of inciting the altercation, which happened at NTA Park Jos.

It was discovered that an OLU monitoring team was walking through Jos city to check on compliance when it chose to go into the park and speak with the transport company’s proprietors.

Comrade Sunday Ayodele, the vice chairman of NLC and team leader, said of the group, “As soon as the park gate attendants saw us approaching, they began hurling stones at us, assuming we were NURTW members.”

We are unaware of an ongoing disagreement between NURTW Jos and the commercial transport provider. And the park’s touts just pounced on our members. Four NLC members were hurt by the touts before the purpose for the attack could be understood.

“The security services had to step in before the park could become peaceful again. In order to restore tranquilly to the park, we had to remove our enforcement team.

Ayodele stated, “In the interim, we transported our men to the hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.”
