Elder statesman Edwin Clark calls on the Inspector-General of Police to arrest Governor Wike and charge him with treason following his threats against PDP governors, escalating the political tension.

Edwin Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information and prominent South-South leader, has submitted a petition to Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. The petition calls for the immediate apprehension and legal action against Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

During a press conference held at his Asokoro residence on Thursday, the Ijaw leader read out a letter addressed to the IGP. In it, he demanded that Egbetokun take action and apprehend Wike for making threats to set fire in several PDP governors’ states.

During the state congress of the PDP, held at their secretariat in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike cautioned other PDP governors to avoid interfering with Rivers’ party matters.

I can promise you that as long as we are alive and kicking, nobody will be able to strip away the framework of PDP from us. However, it has come to my attention that certain governors are making claims about snatching our structure only to hand it over into another’s hands.

Wike expressed pity towards the governors as he intends to set their states on fire. He believes that they reject peace despite being granted it by God and have a tendency to take things without restraint.

Clark responded by stating that the statements made by the former Rivers State governor were a clear show of disrespect towards President Bola Tinubu, who had appointed him.

In his statement, he characterized Wike’s remarks as a type of treachery that could instigate hostility within the nation.

The African Action Congress’ presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore and the #EndBadGovernance protesters were reportedly apprehended for comparable violations as stated by the senior statesman.

He urged the IGP to persuade the FCT minister into withdrawing his statements in a similar manner.
