Chief Edwin Clark, former federal commissioner for information and South South leader, has urged the establishment of a disciplinary committee to investigate the alleged anti-party activities of former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and others who played a role in the failure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections.
In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, Clark accused Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), of being the PDP’s greatest enemy, manipulating the party with the intention of destroying it.
Additionally, Clark called for the immediate dissolution of the current National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP.
He suggested that after the dissolution, an acting national chairman should be appointed in accordance with the party’s constitution, citing a precedent set during Prince Uche Secondus’ tenure.

Clark, who is also the leader of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), advised the party to revisit the online registration of its members, which was initiated by former National Chairman Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, in order to prevent the party from being controlled by individuals seeking personal gain.
Furthermore, Clark expressed his belief that if former Vice President and 2023 Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar were to be chosen as the candidate for the 2027 elections, the PDP would collapse as the second principal party in the country.
Despite his retirement from active and partisan politics, Clark emphasized the inherent nature of humans to engage in politics and form partnerships with others, as stated by the philosopher Aristotle.
He highlighted the importance of collaboration and the Greek concept of polis, meaning community.
