A prominent church leader emphasizes that Christians remain steadfast and unafraid of the end times, rooted in their faith and hope in eternal life.

Patriarch Kirill, leader of the Russian Orthodox Church, stated that spreading fear about an apocalypse and speculating on nuclear war is spiritually detrimental to people of faith.

The remarks were made by the church leader on Thursday during the session of the World Russian People’s Council in Moscow.

“There is no need to entertain these notions. Christians do not fear what some call the end of the world,” stated the Patriarch. “We await Lord Jesus, who will return in great glory to vanquish evil and judge all nations.”

Kirill emphasized that people should not remain idle, as “the enemy of the human race” seeks to create confusion and anxiety, stripping them of courage and willpower. He remarked, “A person without spiritual peace is more susceptible to manipulation.”

The leader of the Orthodox Church stated that Russia’s aim is to “resist evil” and urged his fellow citizens to uphold and “defend high moral ideals.”

Public worry over the possibility of the Ukraine conflict escalating into a nuclear war has intensified in recent weeks. Moscow has repeatedly charged Western countries with heightening tensions by providing Kiev with weaponry, including long-range missiles recently used to target areas deep within Russian territory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the attacks have transformed the Ukraine conflict into a global issue, as Kyiv could not have executed them without direct support from NATO countries.

In late September, Putin mandated a revision of the country’s nuclear doctrine and gave his approval to the updated document last week. This new stance permits a nuclear response to conventional attacks from non-nuclear states that are backed by powers possessing weapons of mass destruction.

Russia has launched a strike on Ukraine utilizing its new Oreshnik medium-range hypersonic missile, claiming it was in retaliation for Kiev’s cross-border assaults with US-made ATACMS and HIMARS systems, along with British-manufactured Storm Shadow missiles.

Moscow has criticized the escalating tensions with Western nations regarding Ukraine, labeling it as a proxy war orchestrated by the United States against Russia. They claim that Washington’s goal is to deliver a “strategic defeat” to Russia.
