Christian votes won’t be enough to win the presidency in 2023, a cleric informs Peter Obi.
Adewale Giwa, senior pastor of the Awaiting the Second Coming of Christ Ministry in Akure, has encouraged Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, to avoid going to church since the support of the Christian community will not help him win the upcoming 2023 election.
This is what Giwa told his followers in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, on Sunday when he talked about the state of the country.
The cleric told the politicians that they shouldn’t do anything that could lead to more religious conflict in Nigeria.
Instead of playing to the crowd, he counseled politicians to pick marketing strategies that would help them win elections.
“Stop appealing to the crowd,” Giwa commanded, and carry out what is right in God’s eyes. Why do you believe that you [Obi] can get the votes you need from the church alone? No sir.
Avoid attempting to exacerbate existing ethnic and religious issues; we have not yet found a solution. Before politicians began to sow discord among them, Muslim and Christian brothers and sisters had been getting along nicely.
“Since you belong to a minority ethnic group, you must love and support everyone.” You have the capacity to lead Nigeria at some point in the future, but not right away.
You need to put in a lot of effort by expanding your party from the units to the wards, local governments, and states before the federal government. Start working toward it and developing your résumé. Please, even if it takes you ten years.
This happened not long after Obi visited Shiloh for the yearly Living Faith Church program.
According to Obasanjonews24, Obi was present on Thursday at the church’s administrative center in Ota, Ogun State.
When Pastor David Abioye, vice president of Living Faith, told the congregation that Obi had arrived, the crowd cheered loudly.
