Chinwetalu Agu: “I turned down N10m for a movie role
Veteran Nollywood performer Chinwetalu Agu recalled turning down Mike Adenuga, a rich businessman, when he offered him N10 million to play a part in a film.
He claimed that at the time the wealthy businessman made the offer, he had never earned even N1 million, yet he insisted on receiving N20 million.
The renowned actor claimed that Adenuga eventually gave up and paid him the N20 million after he threatened to leave.
In a conversation with well-known media figure Chude Jideonwo, Agu made this revelation.
He stated, “Chief Mike Adenuga said, ‘What I have for you in this contract is N10 million.’” He wanted to charge me N10 million, but I said no because I had never seen N1 million before. I advised forgetting about it if it wasn’t N20 million.
Both he and I insisted. Therefore, I pretended to stand up and requested money to return to Enugu. If there is a flight available, please reserve it for me so I can return quietly.
“They perceived me to be serious as I stood up. “Sit down,” said Chief Mike Adenuga. He told them to bring the paperwork for signing. I signed and they brought.
Uhuru Dance began as soon as that happened. I handled it professionally in the office. I didn’t want them to understand how important N20m was to me. But right then, it seemed like the most fantastic thing ever.
