He was found guilty of culpable homicide by Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji, who emphasized that the prosecution had successfully proven the case against the defendant beyond a reasonable doubt.

The tragic incident occurred on September 16, 2022, at Janbulo Quarters in Kano, where Frank stabbed Ummukulsum with a knife in her residence, leading to her demise.

Despite the defendant’s plea of not guilty, the court was presented with compelling evidence by the prosecution, including six witnesses and four exhibits, supporting the charges brought against Frank.

During the trial, the defense counsel, Muhummad Dan’azumi, presented Frank to testify in his defense, where he claimed that the stabbing was an act of self-defense as Ummukulsum had allegedly assaulted him.

Frank appealed for clemency from the court, urging them to consider his circumstances while delivering the judgment.

In response to the verdict, Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji recommended that the Kano State Governor exercise mercy on behalf of the convict, acknowledging the severity of the crime committed.

The victim’s mother, Hajiya Fatima Zubairu, expressed her contentment with the court’s decision, highlighting the closure that the judgment brought to her family.
