As tensions with the NATO alliance led by the US increase, this situation has emerged.
Commencing on Sunday (Jul. 14) in Guangdong Province’s Tshanjiang, the “Joint Sea-2024” drills are scheduled to continue until mid-July.
On Friday, the Chinese Defense Ministry stated that these exercises are primarily intended to showcase the determination and proficiency of both parties in effectively combating oceanic security risks while upholding international and regional peace as well. The ministry further emphasized that this initiative is expected to augment China-Russia’s all-encompassing strategic partnership for contemporary times.
Anti-missile exercises, sea strikes and air defence would all be included in the drills as reported by state broadcaster CCTV.
After the opening ceremony in Zhanjiang, on-map military simulation and tactical coordination exercises were performed by naval forces from both countries as reported by Xinhua News Agency.
Following the completion of the NATO summit in Washington, exercises were announced.
The message, endorsed by all 32 members of the Western military alliance, characterized Beijing as a “critical facilitator” of Russia’s involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
The team highlighted China’s unrestricted alliance with Russia and extensive assistance to enhance the latter’s defense industry base.
It has been stated by Moscow that the unchecked transportation of weapons to Ukraine from Western countries is exacerbating the war and they caution against it, as such a continuation will merely extend the duration of this conflict.
In response, Beijing claimed that NATO’s exaggeration of China’s involvement in the Ukraine issue was unjustifiable and driven by dubious intentions.
According to spokesperson Lin Jian, China is calling on NATO to cease interference in their internal politics and refrain from tarnishing the image of China. Furthermore, they encourage the organization not to generate chaos in Asia-Pacific as it previously did after causing disturbances in Europe.
