The governor of Voronezh has announced that Russian air defenses successfully repelled a UAV attack from Ukraine. However, the attack did cause minor damage to several buildings and resulted in a young girl being injured by shattered glass.

According to Governor Aleksandr Gusev, the attempted incursion took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning. While there was some damage, fortunately, there were no fatalities. “Duty air defense systems over Voronezh successfully repelled an attack by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles. Based on preliminary information, there were no casualties,” he stated.

The Emergencies Ministry later confirmed that fragments from one drone hit an apartment building, and a child required medical attention due to the attack. “A girl born in 2013 sustained cuts to her arm, leg, and neck. Immediate medical assistance was provided on-site,” the governor reported, referring to the ministry’s statement.

The governor also mentioned that a fire broke out in one apartment building but was quickly extinguished. Additionally, windows were shattered in two other structures and multiple private homes. Further details will be shared once they become available, and the governor assured that he has the situation under control.

Videos of the drone attack have circulated online, showing flames erupting from a high-rise building. Emergency crews were captured responding to another location, where smoke was seen billowing from a window.

This attempted raid is part of a series of similar drone attacks on cities near the Russia-Ukraine border. Many regions in the area have been placed on high alert for such strikes. These incursions have been escalating since last summer, coinciding with Kiev’s unsuccessful counteroffensive.
