She participated in the team’s final training session before their UEFA Women’s Champions League match against Ajax, showcasing her skills and impressing manager Emma Hayes.
With her recent performances, there is a strong chance that Akpan might be selected for the matchday squad in the upcoming game.
Following a 3-0 victory over Ajax in the first leg, Chelsea is looking to continue their winning streak.
Akpan, who is currently playing for England at the U19 level, has been included in Chelsea’s List B for the Champions League and is expected to don the number 36 jersey.
Born to a Nigerian father and a Polish mother, Akpan has the option to represent any of the three countries at the senior level.
At just 18 years old, she signed a new contract with Chelsea in December, solidifying her future with the club.
