Joao Felix has been loaned to struggling Chelsea.
troubled Premier League team Numerous sources claim that Chelsea and Joao Felix, a 23-year-old Portuguese international, have reached an agreement to send Felix on loan to Atletico Madrid of the La Liga.
Chelsea hasn’t done very well since a group led by US businessman Todd Boehly bought the London club from former owner Roman Abramovich in May in a multi-billion dollar deal. The fact that Manchester City, the English champions, defeated them 4-0 in the FA Cup on Sunday is evidence of this.
After taking over for Thomas Tuchel in September, the new manager at Stamford Bridge, Graham Potter, hasn’t been able to find a proven goalscorer.Summer additions Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have combined to score just nine goals this season.
The club is said to have tried to sign Joao Felix to give the team’s front line more energy. This is part of an effort to stop the team’s slide, which has put them in tenth place in the Premier League and out of both domestic cup competitions.
Felix went to the Spanish city from Benfica at the age of 19 in 2019 for a price of £113 million ($138 million), making him the fifth most expensive footballer in history.
Considering his astronomical price tag, Felix’s detractors contend that he has underperformed in Spain, scoring just 34 goals in 131 appearances. Others, however, believe that Felix’s reported feud with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has something to do with his goal totals.
His most recent appearance was at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he was a key player in Fernando Santos’ strategies and scored his first World Cup goal in Portugal’s 3-2 victory over Ghana.
Additionally, he contributed two assists to his team’s 6-1 thrashing of Switzerland.
According to rumours, Chelsea will pay £8.8 million ($10.7 million) to loan Felix to them for the duration of the English football season; however, there is no provision in the contract for Chelsea to buy Felix outright.
Enzo Fernandez, a World Cup-winning midfielder for Benfica, and Mykhailo Mudryk, a Ukrainian winger from Shakhtar Donetsk, are two players who have been linked to Chelsea in the January transfer window.
In recent days, the Blues have also signed teenage Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos, Ivorian attacker David Datro Fofana, and French defender Benoit Badiashile.
