Charly Boy warns against negative rhetoric in the Peter Obi vs Kenneth Okonkwo debate, encouraging a focus on constructive and positive discussions.
Charly Boy, the unconventional performer also known as Charles Oputa, has encouraged Nigerians not to make derogatory statements towards Kenneth Okonkwo. The former Labour Party member recently expressed dissatisfaction with Peter Obi (the party’s presidential nominee for 2023), but Charly Boy believes that it is unnecessary and harmful to attack Okonkwo over his opinions.
Okonkwo, previously the spokesperson for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign during the 2023 general election, disclosed on Sunday that he was abandoning both his political party and involvement with Obidient movement.
Okonkwo attributed most of the fault for the turmoil within the party to Obi’s management in a letter he posted on social media.
Obi replied by stating that Okonkwo’s criticisms against him did not make him a mole in the LP.
Charly Boy asserted that Okonkwo should not be considered an adversary simply because of holding views different from the former presidential aspirant’s.
The entertainer shared on X that PO possesses a remarkable ability to render futile any attempts at senselessly attacking him, despite the significant investment of time and energy towards such efforts.
In any gathering, community or organization, divergent viewpoints and discord are expected but it is crucial to uphold civility and respectfulness despite our dissimilarities.
Engaging in positive discussions is essential as disagreements do not equate to hostility and derogatory comments ought to be avoided.
Personally, I prefer not to collaborate with individuals who always share my views. As an effective leader, it is essential to prioritize learning and listening skills. Thus, I value the perspective of those who hold contrasting opinions as they provide a platform for healthy discourse where either party can influence each other or pick up useful insights from one another’s advice.
