In anticipation of the YPP’s next congress, Mr. Uzodinma Nwoko will take over as interim chairman and secretary in place of Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo, the chapter chairman of the Abia State branch, who was allegedly involved in anti-party actions.
The YPP’s State Working Committee (SWC) banned Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo, the former chairman, from the party for suspected anti-party activities prior to and during the general elections of 2023, according to a communiqué released at the party’s office located at 75 Aba Road in Umuahia.

At the SWC meeting, Nwakanma Douglas seconded the resolution to suspend the party chairman and vote no confidence in him, which was made by Success Echefula.
The opposition said that it was improper for the suspended YPP Chairman to assume the position of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Revenue Service Mobilisation under Victor Ikeji, the Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government.
After accepting the SSA position, Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo was unable to continue serving as the party’s chairman, according to the party, which stated it informed the national secretariat of the SWC’s decision.
The YPP constitution’s Article 31 and Section 31.14 were also broken by the suspended Chairman, it was stated.
YPP further insisted that it never formed an alliance with the Labour Party, questioning why the suspended Chairman would not step down from his position as SSA.
