On Wednesday, the Chadian Prime Minister, Succes Masra, officially tendered his resignation to the newly elected junta chief, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, marking a significant development in the country’s political landscape.
This move comes as a result of Masra’s defeat in the presidential elections to the junta, which took place two weeks ago.
The Prime Minister took to his verified Facebook page to announce his resignation, a statement that was later confirmed by his team to the Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Masra emphasized that his resignation also extended to the entire transitional government, as it had become irrelevant following the conclusion of the presidential election.

It is worth noting that the current transitional president, Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, assumed power in April 2021 after his father, President Idriss Deby Itno, was tragically assassinated by rebels.
The younger Deby, aged 40, was appointed by a junta consisting of 15 generals.
In the recently concluded presidential vote on May 6, Deby emerged victorious with an impressive 61 percent of the ballot, according to the final results.
On the other hand, Succes Masra, who had previously been a vocal opponent of Deby before assuming the role of prime minister just four months ago, secured 18.5 percent of the vote but contested the outcome.
This resignation marks a significant shift in Chadian politics and sets the stage for the next chapter in the country’s leadership.
