Human rights lawyer Femi Falana calls for the resignation of the CCT chair, accusing him of abusing his office.
On Saturday night, human rights lawyer Mr. Femi Falana urged Danladi Umar, the embattled chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, to step down from his position.
The senior advocate stated that Umar’s voluntary departure from the position was well overdue.
In a brief statement to the Sunday Tribune, the human rights lawyer highlighted past negative encounters with the troubled quasi-judicial officer, recalling instances where he allegedly misused his position.

He stated, “Justice Danladi Umar should have resigned from his position due to a significant abuse of office.”
He was previously charged with corruption by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“He sent text messages threatening to eliminate me. I asked the police to carry out a discreet investigation, which they did and confirmed the allegation.”
He argued that while the Senate did not remove him, they voted to recommend his removal due to gross misconduct. He emphasized that this action was in full accordance with the provisions of the Convention.
